Manager, Youth Engagement and Leadership Projects
Jennifer Thomas is the manager of youth engagement and leadership projects at the Institute for Educational Leadership. Jennifer joined IEL in 2013 as a youth development specialist for the IEL-led National Collaborative for Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Youth). Jennifer is a former educator and has well over 10 years of experience working with youth, to include opportunity youth and youth with disabilities, who desire to increase their leadership and advocacy skills. In her current role with the VR Y-TAC, Jennifer is responsible for providing technical assistance to VR staff regarding youth engagement and youth voice. Jennifer has a congenital disability and was first formally introduced to self-advocacy as a delegate for the Alabama Governor’s Youth Leadership Forum for High School Students with Disabilities in 2001. Jennifer is pursuing a Master of Public Administration and Policy.
